Azimuth Theodolite

The Azimuth Theodolite, was made in the 52nd and 54th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi (1713-1715), under the supervision of the Bernard-Kilian Stumpf, a German missionary. This instrument weighs 7368 kilograms and is 4.125 meters high, located on the top platform of Beijing Ancient Observatory. It is mainly used to measure the azimuth of celestial bodies and the height of the horizon.
